Recent research into the environmental credentials of the print industry paints a bleak picture. Marketing UK's survey reveals only a quarter of the UK's top 200 print companies have ISO 14001 accreditation.
In addition, only 14% subscribe to the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) standards. (Paper certified to have come from well managed and sustainable forests).
While the report goes on to claim that print "is not doing enough to promote environmental achievements", we can be proud to say we are one of the minority of companies to hold both accreditations and in fact have had a long-term commitment to environmental best practice, having first gained accreditation to ISO14001 in 1997 and full FSC recognition in 2005.
With the environment becoming increasingly important in today's commercial landscape, we feel it is very important for us to continually look for ways through which to make improvements to our processes and the ways in which we work, however small they might be. An example of which are our eco-friendly waterless urinals that save an estimated 18,000 gallons of water per annum...
Other activities have included: cleaning up the exterior of our building and surrounding areas by a team of staff, and erecting bird and bat boxes around the site (we removed matresses, fire extinguishers and bag loads of rubbish which had been dumped on the paths which pass alongside our plant!); running a competition for primary school children to promote environmental awareness (click here to see the literature produced to commemorate it); donating printing waste to organisations like the Bag Ladies for use in art projects with schools; plus countless other activities.
Our strong environmental culture will see us continually develop other environmental initiatives in and around the company, so we can continue to provide the highest quality products and services, produced to some of the best environmental standards available in the industry.
If you visit the environmental section of this website, you will see more about our environmental activities.
